Absurdly Improbable exists to help you live the life of your dreams.
It's a place where:
Anyone can share a dream here, no matter how big or small. And once you've shared it other people can leave comments to help you on your journey to achieving your dream. And who knows, there may just be someone out there that can help you more than you'd ever dreamed!
A Dream (in a less exciting place!) could be called a goal. It's the things in your life that you'd most like to do or be or have. It doesn't matter how absurdly improbable they seem, we still believe they can come true! It may take a lot of belief and determination, but we really believe that anything is possible.
Magic is simply a dream that has come true! Magic happens every day, and the more you believe in it the more likely it is you'll be able to create some magic of your own. Don't believe me? Would you say that creating something from nothing is magic? I certainly would. So then isn't writing a book or a poem or a song magic? Isn't growing a garden or building a house magic? Isn't being a mother or father magic? Isn't it magic simply to make someone laugh or smile? Yep, magic is happening every moment of every day, you just need to notice it!
An Angel is a subscriber that gets greater benefits than a normal registered user because they are helping to support Absurdly Improbable. They are called Angels because in subscribing they are showing that they believe in the idea of Absurdly Improbable and so are the site's guardian angels. You can read about becoming an Angel further down in the FAQ.
Well everyone has dreams, but unfortunately many people look at them and say,
"Well, that's not likely to happen," and so don't do anything about them.
We're here to say that many unlikely things have already happened, and not
just unlikely things, but things that are so absurdly improbable that most
people would actually say they were impossible.
For example:
So if all those (and many, many, many more) absurdly improbable things can happen, why not your dreams? Why Not!?
You can check out all the benefits of being an Angel on the Become an Angel subscription page.

Your dream can be about absolutely anything you like provided that it's in keeping with the spirit of the site (ie. it's not offensive). Anything we consider to be offensive to the greater audience will be removed. We won't go into a big list of all the things we're talking about because you all should know anyway. If you happen to read something on the site that you consider offensive please let us know so that we can look into it and take appropriate action.
Otherwise it doesn't matter how big or small your dream is, or what it's about. The clearer you are about your dream, the more specific and detailed you make it, the more likely someone out there may come along that can help you in achieving it!
Comments should be of a constructive, encouraging, helpful, positive nature. If you know of some way to help, then write a comment. If you think someone has a great idea, write a comment. Criticism of a dream is fine provided that it's constructive - ie. the purpose of the criticism is to help the person, not belittle them. Inappropriate comments may be removed at the discretion of Absurdly Improbable.
There are two things you can do if you believe you can help someone with their dream:
If sending an email, be aware that you will not be given their email address unless they reply to you, however they will receive yours. Therefore only send someone an email if you are happy with them knowing your email address.
The Angel's Choice on the home page is selected at random from all of the Angel's dreams on the site. So every time someone views the home page a new dream will be displayed. That means if you're an Angel, your dream will be featured on the home page from time to time.
You can read about becoming an Angel further up in the FAQ.

My name is Lisa Frost, I'm 30, I live on the Gold Coast, Australia, and I created Absurdly Improbable.
I've spent most of my adult life believing my dreams would come true "one day" while not really doing anything to make them happen. Not anymore! As of the end of 2006 I left my secure employment to follow my dreams full time. So what is it that I want to do? If you'd like to know then read on!
I have a lot of dreams, but thought I might just keep it to my top 3 for now. Above and beyond everything else I intend to be happy!
Absurdly Improbable
Firstly is my dream for this site. I intend for Absurdly Improbable to be a place where people can support, help, motivate and inspire each other to live their dreams. I intend to provide information and resources to help people live a life of happiness and fulfilment, so this will be a place where magic really does happen. It will be the community that develops and grows here that will enable all of this, and so I intend to attract fantastic people (like you!) to be a part of it.
A Family
I intend to live a life of joy, and to share my life with a happy, funny, trustworthy, passionate and inspirational person that views the world in a similar way to me. We will live in happiness, both together and as individuals. Together we will have a wonderful family.
My Land
I intend to own approximately 100 acres of land in the Gold Coast hinterland where I will create a wonderful place for people to come and be happy! I'd like to hold a music festival there, as well as smaller musical and theatrical performances, and outdoor cinema. And of course there will be a restaurant and accommodation, and and and!! And it's something I need to think more about!
My initial motivation for owning a large amount of land actually came about when I was 15 (my goodness, that's half my lifetime ago!) Back then I helped out for a year or so at a horse trail riding place, and eventually bought one of the horses from there. At some time in her past she'd been very badly abused and so was completely head-shy - you couldn't touch her anywhere near her head or neck (which made putting a bridle on her quite challenging!) Catching her was also very difficult as you needed to corner her or else she'd gallop away.
The people at the riding school named her CB, short for...ehem...Crazy Bitch. She certainly didn't make things easy, however there was something about her that I always liked, some sort of innate reliability I could sense in her regardless of her seemingly crazy behaviour, which is why when they closed down I bought her. Eventually, with a lot of time, patience and love, she learnt to trust again. The day I realised she trusted me completely was the proudest day of my life. The day she died was one of the saddest of my life, and I actually doubt that any creature on this earth, human or otherwise, knows me better than she knew me.
From that time, because of CB, I had a dream to look after abused or neglected animals and help them to have happy lives. So ultimately I intend my 100 acres to be a place where both people and animals come to be happy!
I'll keep you updated on the progress of my dreams.
