The law of attraction states that we attract everything that happens to us in our life, whether we know it or not. It's a very powerful idea, and requires us to take total responsability for our lives...yes, even the bits that seem to have no relation to us.
In a nutshell: we create our own reality.
We all know that reality is different for everyone, as it depends on our perspectives, feelings, and the context and meaning we give to it. The Law of Attraction takes this one step further and says that in viewing reality, we are in fact creating it. In other words, it is what our thoughts and feelings are focuessed on that determines our reality.
So if you're thinking about not being sick, not being overweight, not being poor, you are actually focussing on being sick, overweight and poor, and so that is what you will attract to your life, your reality. On the other hand, if you're thinking about being healthy, fit and wealthy, then that is what you will attract into your reality.
An interesting thing is that scientific evidence of the Law of Attraction is actually being found through Quantum Physics. If you're a person that loves to understand the "how" of things, then investigating the Law of Attraction through Quantum Physics would be a great study.
And just think about this teaching from Jesus Christ:
Ask, and it shall be given you;
Seek, and ye shall find;
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For everyone that asketh, receiveth;
And he that seeketh, findeth;
And to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.

This is a wonderful audio recording made in 1957 by Earl Nightingale,
and is where the quotation at the top of this page comes from.
It is succinct and down-to-earth, and gives a practical experiment for
testing out the Law of Attraction in your own life.
In it Earl states that, "Success is the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal." Or in other words, success is knowing what you want - so having a goal or dream - and then working towards the realisation of that dream.
So the success is the man that dreams of being a pilot, and then works towards becoming one. The success is the woman that dreams of being an actress, and then goes out and pursues her dream. The succss is the man that works at the local fruit and vegetable shop, because that's what he has always dreamed of doing. The success is the woman that always wanted to be a fantastic mother, and that is what she's doing.
Earl called it the Strangest Secret because it's not actually a secret, though not many people know about it, that's what makes it so strange. Throughout history there are people that have understood the Law of Attraction, and there are people that have passed their understanding on, it's just whether we've chosen to listen.
A teaching that runs through Judaism, Christianity and Islam is, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." In Hindu and Buddhist teachings there is Karma, the idea of Cause and Effect, or Action and Consequence. Newton's Third Law states that "For every action there is an equal, but opposite, reaction", and science to this day holds that to be true.
It's not hard to see that they all (from differing viewpoints) are referring to the same thing: the Law of Attraction.
You can find The Strangest Secret at Nightingale-Conant, the company that Earl Nightingale founded with Lloyd Conant to help bring people the information they needed to lead successful lives.
Even though it's not a secret to you anymore, the movie The Secret,
and it's subsequent book, are a great place to gain a greater understanding
of the Law of Attraction. It features 24 teachers of the Law of Attraction,
ranging from well-known psychologist and author Dennis Waitley, to
Quantum Physicist John Hagelin, to Morris E. Goodman, "The Miracle Man",
with his amazing story of self-healing.
What The Bleep Do We Know!? is a film that is part story, part
documentary. While The Secret explores the Law of Attraction from
the practical viewpoint of how you actually use it in
your life, What The Bleep!? has a more scientific point of view.
It features 14 teachers, most of whom are scientists from the fields
of physics, neurology, anesthesiology, medicine and molecular biology.
There is now a version of What The Bleep!? called Down the Rabbit Hole, Quantum Edition. It features two extended versions of the film, including 20 mins of extra footage, and 5 hours of uncut interviews.
And where else would you purchase What The Bleep!? from than the The Bleep Store!?
